sports massage

Sports massage is a form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue to benefit a person engaged in regular physical activity and to restore day to day movement. Sports massage is a fantastic method to reduce inflammation within joints, relieve soreness within muscles and sooth off aches and pains. Massage Therapy works hand in hand with training. Regular Massage helps speed up your recovery time and enhance muscular performances by elongating muscular tissue and breaking down scar tissue allowing blood to flow through the muscles with ease so that your muscles can effectively contract with no striation or adhesion issues affecting power and performance output. Massage will also correct and postal issues through releasing certain muscles causing and imbalance within your body. It will also improve performance by increasing range of motion in certain muscle groups through deep tissue muscular manipulation techniques. Regular Massages will also increase longevity within your training life allowing you to train for longer with a lower risk of injury occurring.

Massage also has a lot of Neurological benefits, one being the increase of blood supply and vasodilation. Some people may have issues with circulation of the blood however massage is one of the best ways to help this, massage helps push blood around the body and muscles through deep strokes and alignment techniques. Massage is also proven to remove waste products from the muscles and increase Lymph drainage. Regular Massage also helps enhance the immune system by increasing the production of enzymes within the blood through tissue breakdown and repair.

Neuromuscular Therapy Massage

NMT is massage applied to specific muscles, often used to increase blood flow, release knots of muscle tension, or release pain/pressure on nerves. This therapy is also known as trigger-point therapy in that concentrated finger pressure is applied to “trigger points” to alleviate muscular pain and to act as a nerve blocker to decrease pain in that specific muscle.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep-tissue massage utilizes slow strokes, direct pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles with the fingers, thumbs or elbows. Deep-tissue massage works deeply into the muscles and connective tissue to release chronic aches and pains; its purpose is to reach the fascia beneath the surface muscles to break down and deep knots or adhesions and to increase blood flow to that area as well as increase range of motion. Deep Tissue Massage work Fantastic with Cupping Therapy. Deep tissue massage has been proven to lower levels of stress and increase levels of serotonin and oxytocin, hormones that are responsible for overall happiness.
